The Air Jordan 5 was released in February 1990. Four models of the Air Jordan V were released to the public. Two models which are the Black/Black-Metallic Silver and White/Fire Red-Black had Michael Jordan number “23″ on the side. Limited to only 100 pairs each, and were given to unfortunate kids or auctioned off as charity.Once again Hatfield came up with a revolutionary design for the new shoe. A few elements were picked up from its predecessor but it featured a great silver/reflex tongue and a clear/see-through rubber sole which gave it a totally unique look. There were lace locks which made it easy to strap them on. The Jordan 5 was the first in the Air Jordan Shoes line to have a clear rubber sole. Also the Nike Air Jordan 5 was the first time anyone had ever molded foam into a shoe upper. The design was inspired by the WW2 Mustang fighter plane and the most obvious elements that show this are the shark teeth shapes on the mid sole.
